Water and wastewater treatment process modelling

Using mathematical and statistical tools to develop working models for water and wastewater treatment processes. Some of the models are aimed at optimizing dissolved air floatation for separation of industrial oil from water.

Experimental design and Equipment Design and Optimization

Development standard operating procedures to undertake experiments in fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, trouble shooting and analytical chemistry. Also, providing technical assistance on using computer aided design and simulation tools for design and optimization of chemical and manufacturing equipment.

Plant Installation and Commissioning

Involved in the installation and commissioning of mine wastewater treatment plant. Treatment technologies included electro coagulation, bed filtration, filtration and reverse osmosis.

Evaluation and auditing of wastewater treatment systems

Monitoring and evaluation of the efficiency of wastewater treatment systems, focusing on engineering, chemical and biological aspects. Production-cost and time analysis, process evaluation and risk assessment. 

Mine wastewater treatment

Treatment of effluent from mining companies using processes such as electro coagulation, filtration and reverse osmosis before discharge to mining communities

Oil refinery wastewater treatment

Designing, installation and evaluation of membrane based desalination system for the treatment of oily wastewater.

Plant Operation

Monitoring and controlling production process, sample analysis of mine wastewater treatment plant. This included supervision of workers and development of standard operation protocols.

Coagulant Treatability

Comparative study that assesses the different coagulants and dosing ratio efficiency for physicochemical treatment of water and wastewater treatment.

Residue recovery and Utilization

Design, development and evaluation of resource recovery systems from wastewater using either anaerobic digestion process to generate biogas which can be used for green energy production or donnan dialysis process for the recovery and reuse of alum from potable water treatment residual streams.

Design, installation and auditing of wastewater reuse schemes

The design of wastewater treatment systems to treat wastewater suitable for different applications. Including an integrated health risks assessment for the reuse of wastewater for agriculture and other activities including the development of guidelines to encourage this practice whilst protecting public health.
